The Missouri Soybean Association was founded Feb. 1, 1966. Arline Avery from New Madrid, Mo. was elected the first president at the organization meeting Feb. 9, at the University of Missouri, Columbia. Attendees also heard addresses by agronomy staff members of the University, and by Seeley Lodwick, American Soybean Association director from Wever, Iowa.
The Missouri Soybean Association was accepted as an affiliate of the American Soybean Association (ASA) at the August 1966 annual ASA convention, held that year in Des Moines, Iowa.
